It was that time of the year again. The time of year when Austin becomes completely inundated with the shenanigans of the annual ACL Festival at Zilker Park. I wasn’t planning on attending this year, but I assisted on a photo shoot this Summer for one of the musical acts on this years lineup, The Heartless Bastards, and was graciously given a “special” pass that allowed me to enjoy the entire festival as if I were a guitar wielding rock star.
Needless to say, I did spend a fair amount of time viewing gigs from back stage. As if the almost-unhindered access wasn’t enough…..we were also treated to other luxuries such as air-conditioned restrooms, complementary adult beverages, food and snacks, rides to any stage in the park on golf carts and a multitude of other intricacies that I shall not mention here. Okay…..just kidding about that last part! But really folks, who knew that it was THAT good to even being remotely close to what it feels like to be a rock star?!
Although the weather this year wasn’t necessarily ideal(except for Friday!!), you have to give some props to C3 for the efforts of trying to make the festival grounds a more user-friendly environment. The millions of dollars they spent on the new Zilker lawn sure was soft, but with the rain, it quickly turned squishy…….and MUDDY. But that didn’t seem to slow anyone down. As they say, “the show must go on!”, right? And go on it did! Especially The Heartless Bastards….those guys kicked some major <insert desired expletive here> !!! Here are some of my pictures. Thanks for stopping by!
