New Orleans LouisianA. The Big Easy. The French Quarter. That is where I spent most of last week. It wasn’t necessarily meant to be a vacation and it wasn’t necessarily meant to be a trip for fun. Mind you, I use the word “necessarily” very loosely. But really….how can one go to such a place and NOT have fun?! It’s just not possible. But the real reason I went there was to meet up with 20 other Wedding Photographers from all over the country. Half of us were from Houston and Austin(Texas represent!), but we had folks from Alabama, New York, California, Illinois, Florida, as well as a few from Louisiana. Our main purpose for this trip was to discuss our careers and our industry, to share secrets and techniques, and, well….to let loose a little bit.

We had a variety of skill levels, from novices to hardcore professionals who were making it big and cranking out phenomenal work. This type of gathering just goes to show you how wonderful this industry really is and how willing the successful are to share what works for them, with their peers. Another HUGE reason why I really love photography and am so glad and fortunate to be doing what I do. I really cannot echo that sentiment enough. Add all that sharing and love to a backdrop like New Orleans, and you’ve got the makings of a nerdfest on steroids, with a side of debauchery. Ahh the sights(and smells), the food, the libations, the people and the history of a city that has so much soul and so much character. It’s hard to imagine that it was just recently devastated by mother nature. They bounced back fast and they bounced back hard. We were fortunate enough to have stayed at the lovely Le Richelieu Hotel right in the French Quarter. Simple, yet lovely! Equally as fortunate to have had a pair of couples willing to model for us as well as one of our very own, Lynette J, modeling for a bridal session for us all. With that said…I shall take up no more of your precious time and post some of my favorite pictures from the trip, with some of my street photography included. Thank you SO MUCH to Laura & Christine for making this all possible and to all my NOLASWPB2009 homies…..Y’all rocked! I will never forget you or this trip.

Here are some of the bridals we shot of Lynette J, who is a photographer as well, and was kind enough to be our model for the evening
